Pesto Cheese Straws

For my one of my roommate`s birthday this year, my friends and I decided to throw her a little birthday surprise/bash. Our theme was tea party because she LOVES tea. Totally cute. ♥ It was so very exciting to plan what foods we were going to make and how to surprise her and all that. I loved it. I wish I had more time to always throw birthday parties for my friends.

We made cinnamon sugar scones, tomato basil bruschetta, green tea macarons, deviled eggs, cream puffs, small sandwiches and more! They were all finger foods because it was a “tea party” and all. Also, instead of a birthday cake, we made her chai latte cake push pops.

One thing we also made was pesto cheese straws. So wonderful and so so simple. You can basically use whatever cheese you like. I totally loved these and they disappeared quickly.

These are great because they take so little time to prepare and bake. I didn`t leave measurements for the ingredients because I really just eyeballed everything–these pesto cheese straws are very forgiving. You put as little, or as much pesto as you like! The same applies for the cheese. Want more cheese? Just add more. It`s as simple as that.

My puff pastry sheets were squares and we cut them in half so these straws were about 5 inches long (about 1/2 inch in width).
